Sovereign of the Seas was a warship of English Navy in 17th century. she was first launched in 13 October 1637 and was burnt by a fire at Chatham after serving navy from 1638 to 1679.
She was the most expensive decorated warship at the time that spent £65,586 (equal to £10,783,075 today) to build her. Sovereign of the Seas had 118-gun ports and only 102 guns, she was also armed with demi-cannon drakes. Sovereign of the Seas was not only built with tactical considerations, but also as a deliberate attempt to boost the reputation of English Crown.
