CUTTY SARK

Cutty Sark was a British clipper ship built in Dumbarton in 1869, outbound for Shanghai. Her first voyage was from London on 15 February 1870, on her first outward trip, she carried a variety of cargo – wines, spirits, beer and manufactured goods. After reaching China for only 25 days, she was loaded with 1,305,812 lbs of tea. However, with the steam ships occured with better speed , Cutty Sark had to stop trading tea and had to find other goods to transport.
